Vampire Survivors Drops Cross-Save Feature for PlayStation

The popular game Vampire Survivors will not support cross-save functionality on PlayStation consoles, disappointing many fans awaiting this feature.

Summary

  • Vampire Survivors will not feature cross-save functionality on PS4 and PS5 consoles.
  • The feature will still be available on other platforms.
  • Future content is anticipated to arrive on PlayStation without issues.

The developer of Vampire Survivors, Poncle, has disclosed that the game will not* implement the highly anticipated cross-save feature for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This feature was expected eagerly by gamers who own Vampire Survivors on multiple platforms, marking a disappointment for those on Sony’s consoles.

Originally released in 2022, Vampire Survivors has emerged as an indie hit over the past few years. Last year, it introduced the Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania expansion, which was its most considerable update to date.

Poncle mentioned that they encountered unforeseen legal obstacles with PlayStation which hindered their ability to implement cross-save functionality. These complications arose from a requirement to share specific information that the developer was unable to access. While the chances of introducing the feature for PS4 and PS5 are slim, Poncle assured that the team continues to collaborate with PlayStation to find a solution. Originally, cross-save was expected to roll out with Vampire Survivors’ next major 1.13 update, allowing players to use their saves across various platforms via an account created on Poncle’s website.

The good news is that cross-save capabilities will still be functional on platforms other than the PlayStation. Moreover, Poncle confirmed that there are exciting new features set for release in 2025, including online co-op play and a significant expansion as well.

In more surprising news, Vampire Survivors will soon have a movie adaptation. The project was announced in January and is being developed by Story Kitchen, known for adapting gaming content into cinematic experiences. Poncle hinted that more cross-media updates related to Vampire Survivors could be unveiled in 2025, although further details remain limited.
