New Playlist for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta Features Reduced Skill-Based Matchmaking

Treyarch has introduced a new playlist for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta that minimizes skill-based matchmaking to enhance player experience.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta is now on its third day of early access, and Treyarch has rolled out a new playlist featuring minimal skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). Every day, new features are being introduced to the beta, including Zombies Survival and double XP.

Since its launch on October 2, the developers have remained transparent about updates and improvements, which include adjustments to time-to-kill (TTK) and weapon XP.

New Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta Playlist Reduces SBMM

The latest update introduces an Open Moshpit playlist consisting of four maps and six game modes, drastically reducing skill consideration. Players will engage in classic matchmaking formats like Team Deathmatch and Domination, allowing for a less competitive environment.

Skill-based matchmaking has elicited mixed reactions from the community over the years. It pairs players based on their skills to maintain competitive matches. Charlie Olson, who developed the Matchmaking Rating (MMR) system, asserts that SBMM is vital for player engagement.

The community’s response to the Day 3 playlist has been largely positive, with many expressing excitement about the game. Alongside this update, Treyarch hinted at the potential remaster of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 map “Vertigo.”

Another notable element that remains unaddressed is the ‘Gravemaker’ scorestreak, which has controversial features. This weapon allows users to spot enemies through walls, presenting balance challenges as the open beta approaches on October 5.
