'It Was Just Like Fire': Jennifer Coolidge Talks About Her On-Screen Love in A Minecraft Movie

Jennifer Coolidge shares insights about her romantic scenes with Nitwit in A Minecraft Movie, describing the chemistry as fiery and unexpected.

Jennifer Coolidge recently discussed her experiences filming “A Minecraft Movie,” particularly her character’s unconventional romance with a Minecraft villager named Nitwit.

Coolidge reflects, “Sometimes you show up to a movie and you read the script and they haven’t cast your lover yet, and then you show up and you’re like ‘I don’t know if I really want to make out with him,’” she shared in an interview.

However, she felt a spark upon meeting her co-star Bret McKenzie, stating, “I mean, it was just like fire.” This leads to an engaging love story where Marlene, her character, offers to take Nitwit out for dinner to avoid legal troubles after a car accident. Their interactions highlight their undeniable chemistry, enhanced by McKenzie’s performance and the special effects team creating the character of Nitwit.

Coolidge also humorously notes about McKenzie, saying, “Bret McKenzie’s a genius; it’s hard to do a performance through a cardboard box and still have you laughing, but he was able to do it.”
