Nintendo has officially announced that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set for an upgrade on the upcoming Switch 2. A senior spokesperson for Nintendo, Nate Bihldorff, expressed confidence that the game would experience significantly less frame rate drops compared to its performance on the original Switch.
However, he cautioned that while most of the game would run smoothly, certain player-created builds, particularly those involving multiple weapons, might still challenge the new system.
During a recent Nintendo Direct, it was confirmed that both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom would receive Switch 2 Edition upgrades on June 5. These enhancements aim to boost the games to 4K resolution and a frame rate of 60 FPS while docked. The Switch 2’s new custom Nvidia Tegra processor is equipped to handle such updates, including support for DLSS upscaling.
Subscribers to the Nintendo Switch Online service with the Expansion Pack will be eligible for these upgrades at no cost, although stand-alone prices are set at $9.99 for each title.
In summary, the Switch 2 upgrades promise a smoother gaming experience, as the enhancements will address previous performance issues, particularly in graphics-heavy gameplay areas.
