According to social media sources, early shipments have resulted in the accidental leak of cards from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering crossover set with Final Fantasy. The leaked cards belong to the Final Fantasy Starter Kit, prominently featuring lead characters Cloud and Sephiroth alongside other popular characters from the franchise.
In an announcement made in October 2024, Wizards of the Coast unveiled the integration of the Final Fantasy universe in the Magic: The Gathering game, joining other franchises such as Assassin’s Creed and Marvel. The upcoming expansion is set to roll out on June 13 with four Commander Decks that will include iconic protagonists such as Tidus, Terra, and Y’shtola, alongside notorious villains like Sephiroth and Kefka.
Currently, the Starter Kit is available for pre-order on Amazon for $20. Notable referenced locations include Final Fantasy 4’s Mount Ordeals and Final Fantasy 12’s Royal City of Rabanastre, which will serve as lands in the game. Other legendary characters from Final Fantasy such as Beatrix, Freya, and Lightning will also appear in Cloud’s deck, while Sephiroth’s deck features antagonist Ultimecia.
The Starter Kit configurations include two playable decks, each containing 60 cards. Rumors suggest that the kit was made available prematurely, as some individuals discovered cards printed in Spanish with over 120 unique cards showcased across various images.
The excitement builds as the launch date draws nearer, and fans are eagerly anticipating which other characters may grace the game once the complete set is released.
