Helldivers 2 Player Honors Epic Battle by Recreating It in Minecraft

A dedicated Helldivers 2 fan took to Minecraft to pay tribute to one of the game's most infamous battles, showcasing impressive creativity and detail.

This week, Helldivers 2 marked its first anniversary of the dramatic battle at Malevelon Creek, where players fought valiantly against a swarm of automatons on a jungle planet. In a unique gesture, a player known as Red Monster Thing recreated this iconic battlefield in Minecraft.

Red shared a video showcasing his intricate Malevelon Creek map earlier this week on Reddit. It features painstaking details like automaton factories equipped with laser turrets and detection towers reminiscent of the Eye of Sauron.

Additionally, dropships hover with reinforcements while Helldivers 2’s formidable super destroyers orbit above. The interior of one such destroyer is depicted, complete with a parked Pelican transport shuttle.

The map embodies the dark ambiance of the Malevelon Creek, replicating its distinctive purple trees and twilight atmosphere that earned the nickname ‘Robot Vietnam’. The only element not designed by Red was the Helldiver’s skin, created by Minecraft artist Dr_Martex, available for download here.

Red’s map, which has evidently been in development for some time, is said to be complete. The video serves as a final preview ahead of a detailed making-of video. He plans to release the map for free once he reaches 1,000 subscribers—currently, he needs to grow from around 350.
