No Official Announcement for Neverwinter Nights 2 Remaster, Yet It Earns Steam Deck Validation

The anticipated remaster of Obsidian's 2006 classic, Neverwinter Nights 2, is already verified for Steam Deck despite no official word on its release.

I’m buzzing with excitement about the remaster of Neverwinter Nights 2, a beloved title from 2006 by Obsidian. Even though there’s been no formal announcement, it’s already been confirmed as Steam Deck verified.

What We Know So Far

The recent updates to the Steam database, as noted by Gaming on Linux, show that the remaster is indeed on the way. The last update was made on April 3, indicating that the project is in motion.

The tag updates reveal that, although the project hasn’t been acknowledged officially, its verification by Steam Deck gives fans hope. SteamDB is known for keeping track of behind-the-scenes updates related to game releases.

While there has been speculation about Aspyr being involved in the project, especially considering their history with classic titles, Obsidian’s first game, Knights of the Old Republic 2, shows their capability of success in the remastering realm.

As a long-time admirer of Obsidian and its work, particularly the Neverwinter Nights series, I find myself in high anticipation for a possible reveal date, hoping it addresses my dreams for modernized scripting and improved controls. The potential for future compatibility with mods would only elevate this remaster to be essential.

Stay tuned for updates on this thrilling venture!
