After 13 Years in Development, Middle-earth Mod Receives Full Release

The 'Middle-earth Extended Edition' mod for the beloved RTS has officially launched after over a decade of development.

The Middle-earth Extended Edition mod has made its long-awaited debut, celebrating over a decade of development that began back in 2012.

This ambitious project aimed to transform The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, giving it the same level of enhancement that Peter Jackson brought to his movie trilogy. The mod now includes new playable factions like the Elves and Haradrim, as well as enhanced gameplay elements.

The initial release features numerous tweaks, including more accurate AI behaviors and environmental enhancements that reflect the lore of The Lord of the Rings.

For those who wish to experience this impressive mod, you can download the Middle-earth Extended Edition here. Note that you’ll need patch 1.6 of the original game.
