Microsoft Blocks Windows 11 Bypass Method, Alternative Solutions Still Available
Microsoft has disabled a popular method for bypassing account sign-in requirements in the latest Insider build of Windows 11, but alternatives remain.
A Loophole Has Been Closed
Microsoft has shut down a well-known method known as bypassnro.cmd
intended to bypass Microsoft account requirements during the Windows 11 setup process. The company made this decision in a bid to ’enhance security and user experience’. With the removal, users are now required to have a Microsoft account and internet connectivity during the installation phase.
“This change ensures that all users exit setup with internet connectivity and a Microsoft Account.”
Alongside this, alternative methods are still available for bypassing the requirement, including using the Rufus USB Creator Utility to create a bootable installation drive that doesn’t require an account.
Additional workarounds, such as accessing developer options to reveal a local account setup, remain viable options for users seeking to install Windows 11 without a Microsoft account.
Nonetheless, there is growing concern that this restriction may lead to a future where all Windows installations require Microsoft account registration.
