Asus Confirms Changes to Q-Release Slim System, Resolving Long-Standing Concerns

Asus has officially acknowledged and addressed issues related to its Q-Release Slim mechanism in the latest motherboards.

We can finally lay to rest the concerns surrounding Asus’ Q-Release Slim system.

The company has issued a statement confirming modifications made to the system aimed at reducing potential damage to graphics cards during installation.

As detailed by Videocardz, Asus stated: “Yes, a change has been made to the Q-Release Slim system for new X870 motherboards. We have modified the PCIe slot for the Q-Release Slim system based on user feedback.”

They added, “A metal component has been removed to reduce the risk of damaging the video card. Additionally, stickers have been added to the system to inform users about the correct use of the system.”

For those unaware of the situation, Asus’ Q-Release Slim system faced criticisms for allegedly causing damage to GPU contact pins upon multiple installations. Despite the fears, initial testing by Asus claimed no harm to the motherboard or graphics card.

The issue gained more traction when a revised socket design appeared in photos of an upcoming Asus ROG Apex X870E motherboard, leading to Asus’ customer support in China offering replacements for existing motherboards with PCIe Q-Release Slim slots.

Asus has now officially rectified the design issues, a move that reflects well in the face of public scrutiny. As they say, better safe than sorry.
