The Steam edition focuses on the competitive Duels mode.
Online puzzler GeoGuessr has taken players around the globe, but it’s set to launch on Steam next month. This version highlights the competitive aspect of gameplay, particularly through its Duels mode, which allows players to outguess each other.
According to the official announcement from the GeoGuessr X account, “We’re actually getting GeoGuessr on Steam before GTA 6 lmao”. This competitive variant pits players against one another in ranked matches, as well as in unranked team duels.
The Steam edition will include both solo and team duel formats available for free, but to enjoy the complete dueling experience, players will need to purchase a GeoGuessr Steam pass within the game. The edition on Steam and the browser version are distinct, each requiring separate subscriptions, yet they enable crossplay.
The developers are also planning to roll out new features and game modes over the next six months to enhance player experience. Although a specific release date hasn’t been disclosed, it’s confirmed to go live soon, aligning with the April time frame mentioned in the Steam announcements.
