The Construction of Erebor in Enshrouded
A monumental undertaking saw a group of 33 players devote an impressive 10,000 hours to recreate Erebor, the legendary dwarven city from The Lord of the Rings, in the early access game Enshrouded.
This ambitious project involved mining 220 million blocks and placing over 15 million blocks to accurately depict the intricate architecture of Erebor beneath the Lonely Mountain.
“That’s a lot of effort: 220 million blocks mined and over 15 million blocks placed to bring the dwarven city to life.”
Erebor is famed for its treasuries and was once home to the dragon Smaug, who wreaked havoc before a band of adventurers, including Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield, reclaimed it. The recreation features expanses of cavernous hallways and towers adorned with vibrant aesthetics, bringing this iconic location to life for fans of the franchise.
It remains to be seen how faithfully these recreations align with the original depicted in both the books and the films, but the dedication shown in this collaborative endeavor is indeed commendable. For those wishing to witness the majestic recreation firsthand, a YouTube video showcases the extensive work put forth by the team.
