Norland's Major Update Revamps Game Mechanics

The medieval colony simulation game Norland receives a significant update that modifies core gameplay elements for improved player experience.

Norland, a medieval colony simulation game, is getting a considerable update that transforms its core gameplay mechanics. Developer Long Jaunt is rolling out “A Damn Big Update” to enhance player enjoyment by reworking important game systems.

The game’s designer, Dmitry Glaznev, stated: “I couldn’t come up with a better name than ‘A Damn Big Update’. We’re rolling out some radical changes to the core gameplay in the beta branch. It took time to pinpoint what wasn’t working in the core gameplay loop and find ways to make it better. But now, it seems the game is more enjoyable to play.”

Key changes include simplifying task delegation to limit micromanagement, removing the ’needs’ tab from characters to focus more on desires, and streamlining migration connected to the overall mood of the settlement. Additionally, crime and punishment mechanisms have been adjusted to provide automatic executions and increased time efficiency for players.

Overall, this update aims to provide a fresh and more engaging experience, with a beta available for players to test the improvements.
