Niftski Achieves New World Record in Super Mario Bros. Speedrun Using Keyboard Controls

Speedrunner Niftski sets a remarkable new record in Super Mario Bros. on a PC emulator, narrowly missing perfection by 0.3 seconds.

Super Mario Bros. speedrunner Niftski has achieved a new world record of 4:54.565 while using a PC emulator. During the run, Niftski remarked, “Could have been a few frames faster with my strats, but I am still extremely happy with this time.”

Record-Setting Performance

Niftski’s record-setting run began with a casual chat with his audience before he confidently executed pixel-perfect hops and intricate glitches. As the run progressed, both Niftski and his audience recognized that it was going exceptionally well.

The final level, known as 8-4, posed numerous challenges with fast-moving enemies and required the execution of unique strategies. Niftski expertly navigated through the level, avoiding obstacles and reaching Bowser with remarkable precision.

Post-Run Celebration

Upon completing the run, an ecstatic Niftski celebrated, shouting, “We did it!” His heart rate monitor peaked at 188 BPM, revealing the adrenaline rush he experienced under pressure. Reflecting on his performance, he noted, “This run is now 18 frames, 0.3 seconds off of absolute perfection!”

Niftski clarified that using an emulator and keyboard for speedrunning is entirely legitimate, stating, “Emulation for this game is 100% accurate, which means that anything that can be done on an NES is possible on emulator.”

Future Goals

Despite this remarkable feat, Niftski is not resting on his laurels. He expressed intentions to push his record even further, aiming for a time of 4:54.4xx in the near future.
