Seekers of Skyveil, the MOBA—extraction shooter mashup, is shutting down less than a month after release
Elodie is closing its doors along with its ambitious debut project the same day it is set to be discontinued.
Former BioWare, Blizzard, and Riot developers established Elodie six years ago to create what would become Seekers of Skyveil, a novel blend of MOBA action and the extraction format popularized by games like Escape From Tarkov. Despite receiving positive feedback upon its launch, achieving only a mixed rating on Steam, the game struggled to maintain a large player base.
In a blog post, the Elodie team expressed gratitude to players, stating, “Your enthusiasm, feedback, and love for Seekers of Skyveil meant everything to us. We built this game for YOU, and we’re grateful you found us… This isn’t the outcome we hoped for, but it doesn’t take away from what we were able to accomplish together. Thank you for being a part of our adventure.”
They also noted the critical issue of funding, admitting, “Without the necessary funding to continue development and marketing efforts, we have no choice but to bring this short journey to an end.”
For players who bought in-game currency or DLC, refunds will be processed, and all heroes will be available to play free of charge until the shutdown. After the 31st, players will still be able to launch the game, but matchmaking will be disabled.
