During a recent conversation at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Wout van Halderen, the communications director at Playstack, expressed uncertainty regarding the release of Balatro’s 1.1 update, stating, “I don’t think he’ll let us know when [Balatro 1.1] is gonna drop. He’s just gonna show up one day and say, here’s 100 new jokers.” He mentioned that the game’s developer, LocalThunk, operates with notable privacy and does not disclose all developments to Playstack. This secretive approach leads to speculation about the upcoming content.
Interestingly, the initial count of jokers intended for the game was mistakenly stated as 150 during a meeting, spurring LocalThunk to create an additional 30 jokers instead of correcting the misinformation. Balatro 1.1 is expected to prioritize quality over speed, with a planned release later this year, keeping fans anxious for updates.
