If you’re a fan of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny and appreciate a tough challenge, good news awaits: a newly unveiled developer diary trailer showcases a mode called Hell mode.
As stated by the game director Motohide Eshiro, “the name says it all.” This new difficulty ramps up the challenge, allowing just a single hit to send you back to the last checkpoint. Eshiro admits that even some Capcom staff have struggled to complete it, describing it as “not for the faint of heart.”
The trailer also reveals the much-anticipated release date for the remaster: May 23. This launch will effectively double the number of Onimusha games available on Steam, coming six years after the first game’s release on the platform. While fans eagerly await this remaster, they can also look forward to the series’ newest installment arriving in 2026.
Eshiro shared his nostalgic sentiments about the original game, noting its special significance to him as his directorial debut. To enhance the experience, the remaster introduces various quality-of-life improvements like autosaves and streamlined weapon switching.
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is available for pre-order on Steam.
