In the upcoming survival game, Echoes of Elysium by Loric Games, players will take on the role of Heron of Alexandria, the ancient Greek engineer who has taken a twist on history.

“The hubris of man,” they said, as I prepared to reclaim Elysium from Heron’s mechanical armies. The best weapon against such hubris? A dynamic airship equipped for combat.

During a sneak peek at this year’s GDC, the developers unveiled how players can assemble their airships from various parts, transforming what was once tree-punching tradition into mobile base-building where flying ships reign supreme.

Players can join forces with up to five others to build and pilot their creations, navigating the skies above floating islands filled with mysterious resources, using arsenal like harpoon guns and sawblade launchers for harvesting.

Notably, your ship’s design impacts its performance. Utilizing sturdier materials yields stronger vessels, albeit at the cost of increased weight and energy consumption. This leads to innovative design choices among players, including heavy cargo transports and fast-assault ships.
