Microsoft has acknowledged a peculiar issue in a recent update for Windows 11, which inadvertently removes the Copilot app from some systems and removes it from the taskbar. As reported by Windows Latest, the documentation regarding Windows 11 KB5053598 now includes this unexpected Copilot issue.

“We’re aware of an issue with the Microsoft Copilot app affecting some devices. The app is unintentionally uninstalled and unpinned from the taskbar.”
Translation: This statement confirms the unintentional uninstalling of the Copilot app due to the bug in the update.

Users who wish to continue using Copilot can reinstall it from the Microsoft Store and re-pin it manually to the taskbar. Although Microsoft asserts that a solution is being worked on, the situation leaves many users pondering the necessity and effectiveness of such AI features in Windows.
