Recent reports indicate that Ubisoft has put an anti-harassment plan in place to protect its developers upon the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Harassment has sadly been a recurring issue for many developers, particularly with the introduction of Yasuke, a character based on a real historical individual.
Yasuke, an African man who became a samurai in the 16th century, has ignited significant backlash due to his portrayal in the game, resulting in numerous racist attacks against Ubisoft and its personnel. The company is reportedly collaborating with Canada’s Communications Security Establishment to identify and counter these targeted harassment attempts and is ready to provide psychological and legal support for those affected.
As the game approaches its release date, Ubisoft is taking these protective measures very seriously, ensuring a more secure environment for their developers.
