FlyQuest is changing course with the decision to bench their in-game leader, Christopher “dexter” Nong. The 30-year-old player has been moved to the bench after recent struggles. This comes just days after FlyQuest was eliminated from ESL Pro League Season 21 following a disappointing loss to rival team TYLOO in a crucial match.
FlyQuest’s Turbulent Start
FlyQuest has faced a challenging start to the year, with early exits at various tournaments including PGL Cluj-Napoca, where they finished with a 0-3 record, and IEM Katowice, where they suffered consecutive losses during the play-in stage. They also placed 13-16th at BLAST Bounty.
During his tenure with FlyQuest, dexter had been part of the starting lineup since the beginning of 2024, after returning from a three-year stint in Europe with MOUZ and fnatic.
Despite decent highlight moments, such as winning at ESL Challenger Atlanta, FlyQuest struggled to perform well at significant events. They had a chance to progress at the Perfect World Major in Shanghai but failed to capitalize after leading 2-0 in their match.
FlyQuest is now looking to fill the void left by dexter and is considering new roster options from Europe following recent changes including the addition of Iulian “regali” Harjău after releasing AWPer Alistair “aliStair” Johnston at the end of 2024.
The current lineup of FlyQuest includes:
- Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas (AU)
- Joshua “INS” Potter (AU)
- Declan “Vexite” Portelli (AU)
- Iulian “regali” Harjău (RO)
- Erdenetsogt “erkaSt” Gantulga (Coach)
- benched: Christopher “dexter” Nong (AU)
