WWE 2K25 for Switch 2 Lacks Key Features

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of WWE 2K25 comes without some core features that fans deem crucial to the game experience.

WWE 2K25 has finally landed on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it raises questions among fans. Despite including various features from the PS5 and Xbox versions, it lacks two significant components that many gamers consider necessities.

Fans familiar with the WWE 2K franchise know that encountering problems on Nintendo systems isn’t new. Previous installments, like WWE 2K18 and WWE 2K Battlegrounds, faced backlash due to performance issues and bugs on the original Switch, released in 2017 and 2020, respectively. The upgraded hardware of the Switch 2 has allowed 2K to deliver WWE 2K25, which is largely equivalent in quality to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

However, WWE 2K25 on Switch 2 has two significant omissions. While this version possesses all key gameplay modes from WWE 2K25, it does not include cross-platform community creations or an image uploader. The absence of cross-platform content sharing isolates Switch 2 users from the extensive WWE 2K community, denying them access to downloadable wrestlers, arenas, and logos created on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC.

Even more restrictive is the lack of an image uploader. This feature typically allows players to import their graphics, helping them to recreate familiar figures outside the official WWE 2K character roster. This could be a substantial setback for creators reliant on these tools to assemble their optimal lineups. Official confirmation from 2K stated, “Nintendo Switch 2 players will not see Image Uploader-based Community Creations from any platform or be able to upload their own.” No technical justification has been provided for this decision, especially when considering that image uploading works on older systems like PS4 and Xbox One, leaving many fans confused.

The prevailing theory among fans speculates that the image uploader’s exclusion could relate to the influx of NSFW or inappropriate content often found in WWE 2K Community Creations, which Nintendo might prefer to avoid on Switch 2. If this is the underlying reason, it is doubtful that the image uploader will be added to WWE 2K25’s Switch 2 version, which would be disappointing, considering how crucial customization is to the franchise. There’s hope that 2K and Nintendo will collaborate to better moderate uploads to Community Creations, potentially allowing for the return of the image uploader on Switch 2.
