
Nvidia and Microsoft to Introduce AI Shading in Upcoming DirectX Preview
A new development in gaming technology reveals that Nvidia and Microsoft are set to incorporate AI shading support into DirectX next month, paving the way for a significant evolution in graphical rendering.

Nvidia recently shared that neural shading support will enhance DirectX in April, unlocking the potential of AI Tensor Cores within NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs for game development.
Nvidia stated: “Nvidia RTX Neural Shaders SDK enables developers to train their game data and shader code on an RTX AI PC and boost their neural representations with Tensor Cores effectively at runtime.” Translation: The SDK allows game developers to optimize their graphics shaders using AI technologies.
In this innovative pipeline, AI will assist not only in generating interpolated frames but also in rendering the primary images based on in-game data. The overarching aim is to provide game engines with a method to inform GPUs about important in-game elements, ensuring rich graphical outputs.
Moreover, Nvidia’s VP of Developer Technology, John Spitzer, referred to this advancement as “the future of graphics,” hinting at a paradigm shift in how games are rendered and experienced.
