PlayStation's Essential Role in the Development of Rise of the Ronin
Koei Tecmo executives reveal how PlayStation's support was vital for the development of Rise of the Ronin.
Importance of PlayStation Support
During a recent interview, Yosuke Hayashi, Executive Vice President at Koei Tecmo, noted that Rise of the Ronin “would not have started” without PlayStation’s backing. Alongside Hayashi, Fumihiko Yasuda, Head of Team Ninja, shared key insights regarding the recent PC version of the game and its future.
Developed by Team Ninja, Rise of the Ronin has garnered positive feedback since its PS5 release. The RPG immerses players in 19th-century Japan, with custom character creation and action-oriented gameplay featuring historical weapons such as katanas and guns. Players can navigate through famous cities including Yokohama, Edo, and Kyoto. Initially a PS5 exclusive, it was later announced that it would also be available on PC, launching on Steam on March 11.
Key Insights from the Interview
- PlayStation’s insights on accessibility enhanced the design and onboarding experience for the game.
- Player feedback from PS5 contributed to a more stable PC version with a focus on performance.
No DLC Plans
While players have raised the question about potential new content, Yasuda confirmed there are no DLC plans for now.
However, the game has faced severe performance issues on PC, hindering its experience, despite being well-reviewed on PS5.
