REPO is the latest co-op horror viral sensation, taking the template established by Lethal Company and adding wacky physics and googly-eyed robot protagonists. It’s a combination that has proved wildly popular, with REPO currently being the fourth highest-selling game on Steam.
Currently, the developer, semiwork, has posted its first community update since the game’s launch. They acknowledged that “Our game REPO kinda blew up,” and assured players that the studio is working hard on new features, such as new enemies and weapons. The video also teased a new level, which is still in its early production phase, but it appears to be either a museum or an art gallery.
The primary focus of the video is a request for assistance from the community regarding matchmaking lobbies. For context, REPO launched without matchmaking lobbies, which semiwork previously apologized for. They didn’t explain why this feature was absent, only stating they had not anticipated the game’s popularity.
The main concern with these matchmaking lobbies is hackers, which the studio addressed. The host stated, “The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. That’s like a package deal that you sadly get with lobbies… an anti-cheat system could ruin the experience for mod users.” Semiwork expressed their desire to hear from players for tips on tackling these issues.
