Speedrunner Acclaims Path of Exile 2 Using the game's Most Dreaded Class

In an official race, a speedrunner achieved an astonishing time with a class that many consider the weakest.

Path of Exile 2 has been accessible since December, and while the initial excitement has subsided, Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has been holding smaller events to keep the community engaged. Recently, an early leader using what some consider the game’s worst class performed remarkably well in an official race.

The game is known for its speedrunning events, with this one focusing on clearing Act 3 as quickly as possible. Competitors will also have another chance to join future races on March 9 and March 16. The top player from each class will earn unique items, and the final race’s winner receives a laptop.

Clearing Act 3 was a monumental task for many, often taking over 10 hours initially, but Angormus completed it in an astonishing 2:28:37, marking a significant improvement over the second-place finisher by around forty minutes.

This achievement was especially notable as Angormus utilized the Warrior class, frequently deemed the weakest due to its slow clear speed and inadequate life scaling. However, for speedrunning purposes, it evidently showcased its potential.

Angormus displayed exceptional skill during the competition, effectively using an animation cancel technique that allows for faster attacks with specific abilities like Rolling Slam followed by Boneshatter. He took full advantage of the Warrior’s mobility skills to maintain a significant lead towards the race’s conclusion.

Additionally, favorable RNG played a crucial role, with early advantageous item drops affirming his victory.

Thus, contrary to many preconceived notions, the Warrior class is proving its worth within the competitive speedrunning scene of Path of Exile 2.
