Marvel’s Avengers, once launched in 2020, faced significant challenges after being discontinued by Square Enix just two years later, though players can still access the game if they own it.
However, the possibility of a revival isn’t completely closed off. In a recent discussion, co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo of the upcoming films Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars revealed that they are open to the concept of developing another Avengers video game. \n
“We would definitely be open to it,” Joe Russo stated when probed about the chance of creating games linked with new Avengers movies or the Amazon series Citadel, where the Russo brothers serve as executive producers.
Russo also mentioned that their new partner, Donald Mustard, known for his role in Fortnite, is collaborating with them to explore hybrid storytelling methods integrating traditional narrative, virtual reality, and gaming.
“A lot of our new storytelling is going to be working hand in hand with our gaming efforts,” remarked Anthony Russo.
Both brothers are evidently serious about mixing the cinematic and gaming worlds to craft expansive, immersive new storytelling experiences.
