Eternal Strands Developer Addresses Physics-Based Gameplay Concerns
The developer of Eternal Strands explains the rationale behind its character movement mechanics in a recently unveiled roadmap.
Chaotic physics-based action RPG Eternal Strands has recently unveiled its roadmap, detailing plans for updates, adjustments, and various free DLC packages extending into the summer. Developer Yellow Brick Games also addressed player feedback regarding character movement, stating, “Much of how it feels is intended and attributable to how a 100% physics-based sandbox game like Eternal Strands is designed to work.”
The developers explained that players described the character’s movement as ‘slippery’, similar to skating, which can feel frustrating. Yellow Brick highlighted that this movement style is a core feature due to the physics-driven design. They also confirmed that improvements are on the way, including adjustments to character acceleration and combat responsiveness.
The upcoming update will also remove penalties for falling deaths, allowing players to navigate a vertical world without harsh consequences.
In the coming months, Eternal Strands will introduce new armor and weapon skins, developed in collaboration with Final Fantasy concept artist Yusuke Mogi, along with additional content from Grasshopper Manufacture.
