Riot Games has announced that it will be bringing back Hextech Chests to League of Legends and will reduce the Blue Essence cost for acquiring new champions by half.
In a recent update, the company stated that the changes introduced last January—designed to simplify the reward system—“didn’t hit the mark for everyone.” These updates had transformed the game’s reward system into a complex setup that made it challenging for new players to earn anything.
Now, with the upcoming patch (25.05), players can earn ten Hextech Chests each act. Additionally, the Blue Essence required for all new champions will be slashed by 50% to help newcomers build their champion rosters more easily.
Riot acknowledged that Hextech Chests held significant value for players, stating, “It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff; they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding.”
This change responds to ongoing feedback from the community, with many players advocating for the reintroduction of the Hextech Chests system.
