Creator of PUBG Eyes New Funding for Future Projects
Brendan Greene, known for creating PUBG, seeks financial backing to ensure his team isn't pressured to develop another similar title.
Brendan Greene, the mind behind PUBG, aims to raise funds for his upcoming project. This initiative focuses on protecting his development team from financial pressure that could lead them to produce another typical PUBG-like game.
“The bigger vision is creating an Open Source Engine to develop digital environments for everyone,” Greene shares. He is emphasizing that the long-term goal involves creating interconnected virtual worlds, but it could take between 10 to 15 years to achieve this vision. To maintain the team’s security and creativity, Greene is actively seeking funding that permits them to work without the immediate worries of financial returns.
Greene states, “If Prologue doesn’t perform well, I want them to be insulated. This often happens in studios; the vision can be compromised under profit-driven pressures.” Greene recognizes that Prologue, his forthcoming survival game, may not appeal to all players as it is designed more as a survival simulation rather than a narrative-focused game. He believes that despite the challenges, maintaining creative integrity is paramount.
