Henrique Olifiers, co-founder and co-CEO of Bossa, has acknowledged the substantial disruptions currently affecting the video game industry. In a message shared via LinkedIn, he stated, “This disruption isn’t just a phase, but a profound transformation in how games are developed and by whom.”
“The industry of two years in the future will not look like the industry of two years ago,” Olifiers expressed, highlighting ongoing significant changes that will influence future game development.
To navigate these changes, Bossa has opted to streamline its production efforts, concentrating on completing Lost Skies. “We’ve had to make the tough call to focus on ensuring the game is successfully launched,” Olifiers noted, marking a painful decision to bid farewell to talented colleagues who contributed to their journey.
Despite the challenges, Bossa is committed to evolving its projects post-launch, transitioning to smaller teams that will innovate and bring new ideas to the gaming community. Olifiers reflects on the company’s journey, stating, “We regret having to make difficult choices during turbulent times.”
The shakeup comes amid a backdrop of broader industry challenges, including a notable minority investment in Bossa from NetEase in 2019, hinting at bigger operations and challenges ahead for the gaming studio.
