The dream of the ’90s continues in Black Ops 6.
The latest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 introduced a costly crossover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However, this isn’t the only 90s reference embedded in the update. As noted by CharlieIntel, hidden within the Grind map (a remastered map from Black Ops 2) is a poster displaying a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater logo and the date March 4, 2025.
The initial two Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games were remastered and re-released in a double pack back in 2020. However, plans for a follow-up were cancelled when developer Vicarious Visions merged with Blizzard. Tony Hawk expressed hope back then: “I wish there was some way to bring it back; perhaps when everything settles, we’ll find a way.”
Looks like time has allowed the dust to settle. Aside from the Call of Duty tease, skater Tyshawn Jones indicated in a recent podcast that he is featured in a new Tony Hawk game, saying, “I’m in a Tony Hawk project about to be released; they are remastering it.”
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was received well, with Justin Towell referring to it as “a perfect blend of authenticity with modern enhancements” while commenting on the detailed vehicles and skaters, and the impressive lighting and textures.
