Despite the mixed reactions to President Trump’s tariff threats, there’s no denying their impact on the U.S. semiconductor industry. Intel, as a leading company in this sector, has raised concerns amid discussions of restructuring or sales of its segments. Jim Keller, the former AMD engineer and current CEO of Tenstorrent, commented on these developments, suggesting that various entities are eyeing parts of Intel, possibly to capitalize on its perceived undervaluation.

Responding to rumors that the Intel board is contemplating a sale to enhance shareholder value, Jim Keller stated, “this is not unlocking shareholder value; it’s a fire sale.”

He further elaborated that true value comes from having a strong vision and a dedicated team focused on that vision:

“You build value by having a great goal and a team that loves working towards it. Intel built the fastest CPUs on the best processes.”

Continuing his commentary on social media, Keller discussed Intel’s immense potential, estimating a desirable Intel might be valued at around $1 trillion, urging stakeholders not to hastily abandon it.

As discussions persist about who might purchase Intel or specific divisions of it, there are conflicting reports regarding potential buyers like TSMC and Broadcom. Keller’s insights underscore the risks associated with dismissing Intel’s legacy in favor of immediate financial maneuvers.

Whether Keller’s hopeful vision for Intel materializes depends on ongoing leadership and technical advancements at the company, particularly surrounding its upcoming production technologies.
