Dead by Daylight Pauses Future Features for Significant Quality of Life Improvements
Behaviour Interactive shifts focus from new content to enhancing existing gameplay in Dead by Daylight.
In a recent update unlike any other from Steam, Dead by Daylight’s developer, Behaviour Interactive, has revealed it is suspending the rollout of numerous new features in favor of what it describes as a ‘substantial quality of life initiative’ running throughout 2025.
According to the update, Behaviour had initially planned to expand the existing content of DBD by introducing new character updates, limited-time events, and modifiers. However, all those plans have now been postponed as the studio aims to tackle “many longstanding concerns and frustrations” voiced by players.
Two-Phase Initiative
This initiative will unfold in two phases from April to the end of the year. The primary objectives include the introduction of ‘Surrender States’ to help mitigate player frustration. Survivors can surrender the game if all remaining survivors get caught, while killers can yield when all survivors are bots.
Another change includes the ‘Go-Next Prevention’ system to reduce instances of players deliberately throwing matches. Implementing detection measures will result in penalties for players who engage in such behavior.
Moreover, the initiative will target ‘Extreme Hiding’, which occurs when survivors prolong unwinnable matches by avoiding objectives. Modifications to the ‘AFK Crows’ will allow for quicker identification of these tactics.
Additional adjustments will focus on spawning rules for survivors to give killers a fairer chance, changes to the ‘Map Offerings’ system, new anti-bot measures, and a ‘Quest System’ to enhance gameplay experience.
Phase Two will feature updates like anti-tunneling, anti-camping measures, map balancing, and overall bug fixes for ongoing issues.
It signifies a noteworthy shift for Behaviour, addressing both the bot problem and unsporting player behavior that has negatively affected gameplay, while providing a promise to continue enhancing DBD in the future. Hopefully, this will improve its recent mixed ratings on Steam.
