The cabin fever has reportedly struck players eagerly anticipating updates for Stardew Valley, with one fan deciding to take a monumental nap lasting 1,000 years in the game. This occurred while their Nintendo Switch was left running for over three weeks straight, besides experiencing a few crashes during that time.
The Experiment
Reddit user Holozard shared their experience, stating that they simply tucked their character into bed repeatedly to simulate the long sleep.
They humorously described their method:
“I used a controller with a turbo button to hit ‘A’ repeatedly, and a hair tie to walk right automatically. That also gave my controller horrible stick drift.”
Surprisingly, waking after such a long slumber resulted in a transformed world: immortal villagers, giant mushrooms sprouting all over, and seemingly endless weeds cluttering the landscape. Holozard humorously noted the impressive lifespan of the villagers and their less-than-thrilled chickens after so long in stasis.
Despite the mess, once awakened, Holozard reported significant in-game gains, boasting about generating near half a million in mushrooms while also gaining numerous cool purple gems in the process. “I’m happy,” they concluded, sharing their quirky achievement in an otherwise chaotic turn of events.
