Masters of Albion, which Peter Molyneux claims will be his final game, is a project that pulls together familiar faces from his past at Lionhead Studios. Reflecting on this undertaking, Molyneux admits the team is filled with inexperience in areas like marketing and community management, which could lead to significant challenges ahead. In an interview, he stated,
“I am petrified, because we are going into a world we don’t fully understand. We’ve been lucky that there are lots of outside people that are coming in and helping us, but I’m sure we are going to make some horrendous mistakes. But… if this is going to be the last game, why not give it a try?”
This attempt at self-publishing marks a departure from traditional publishing roles, with Molyneux and his team having to learn swiftly about PR and marketing to ensure the game’s success. The veteran designer openly acknowledges their limited experience:
“We are incredibly inexperienced. Almost everybody here, we have hired for their passion, including the community team.”
With the game slated for early access on Steam in April 2026, the team is optimistic but also aware of the potential missteps they might encounter throughout the process. Molyneux implied that their mistakes could lead to unexpected learning opportunities, emphasizing the importance of adaptability in this new venture.
