Just a couple of weeks after Google seemingly spooked game company investors with its AI-powered “world model” Project Genie, engine maker Unity is pursuing a similar path, declaring that “AI-driven authoring” will be a major focus in 2026.
At the Game Developer Conference in March, Unity will introduce the beta version of their new upgraded AI, enabling developers to craft entire casual games using just natural language, seamlessly transitioning from prototype to final product, as stated by CEO Matthew Bromberg during Unity’s recent quarterly financial results.
Bromberg explained that this new AI assistant aims to simplify game development, boosting efficiency and making it more accessible for non-coders. He emphasized their goal is to minimize obstacles in the creative process, acting as a conduit for translating creative ideas into successful digital experiences.
