The iconic words ‘mutant’, ’ninja’, and ’turtle’ have long been part of Magic: The Gathering, making this new set a natural evolution.
Expect a nostalgic return to New York City, the beloved setting of the TMNT lore. Unlike previous collaborations like Avatar: The Last Airbender, this set includes a pre-constructed Commander deck showcasing a five-color fictional deck drawing from the TMNT video games.
This deck comes equipped with cards labeled with titles like Game Over, Level Up, High Score, and Arcade Cabinet, enhanced by unique pixel art from Kirokaze to boost that 80s arcade vibe.
Moreover, the set features a Turtle Team-Up box for cooperative play, where up to four players can select individual Turtle-themed decks to tackle bosses together—an ideal introduction to the mechanics of Magic for new players.
This set will also bring new gameplay mechanics such as Sneak—allowing players to play cards during their opponent’s blocking phase—and Disappear, which activates effects based on cards that left the battlefield earlier.
The nostalgia continues with artwork by Kevin Eastman, co-creator of TMNT, bringing a blend of classic comic visuals to this exciting new set. You can expect the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Magic set to launch on March 3 in Arena and on March 6 in physical form, with prerelease events starting from February 27.
