Highguard, a recently launched free-to-play raid shooter, appears to be on the verge of shutting down. Fans noticed today that the game’s official webpage has become unavailable, presenting a stark, static screen instead. This latest development follows a rough timeline for developer Wildlight Entertainment, raising concerns among players that Highguard may soon be discontinued.
This worrying trend began when the official site, PlayHighguard.com, encountered major issues, now displaying a message stating its unavailability. Players are left in uncertainty, questioning whether their saved progress and in-game purchases will be preserved, especially given that Highguard has a history of disappointing performance following its initial interest.
Upon its launch, Highguard peaked at about 97,000 concurrent players, but soon suffered a dramatic decline of nearly 99%, with many players abandoning the game within days. Efforts by Wildlight, including a new 5v5 mode, failed to retain player engagement, culminating in significant layoffs at the studio last month, leaving only a small team to support the game.
