Upcoming HBO Series Based on Baldur's Gate to Continue the RPG Story

HBO is set to produce a new series that continues the narrative of Baldur's Gate 3, featuring both new and familiar characters.

According to a Deadline report, HBO has announced plans to develop a Baldur’s Gate TV series that will pick up the story right after the events of Baldur’s Gate 3. The series is expected to feature a combination of new characters and some returning favorites. Craig Mazin, known for his role as co-creator of HBO’s The Last of Us, will lead the project. He mentioned, “I am a devoted fan of D&D and the brilliant way that Swen Vincke and his gifted team adapted it.” Mazin has devoted a significant amount of time to playing Baldur’s Gate 3, claiming nearly 1,000 hours.

The story will focus on a new ensemble of adventurers while still incorporating Baldur’s Gate 3 characters as they navigate the challenges of becoming powerful heroes. Potential crossovers from voice actors in the game are also being considered.

As the series develops, expect an exploration of familiar realms from D&D’s rich history, with a fresh narrative angle that welcomes both veterans and newcomers to the franchise.
