Fallout Season 2 Will Not Define a Canon New Vegas Ending: '15 Years Later, Every Faction Might Believe They Won'

The creators of Fallout's second season share insights about the show's narrative approach regarding the endings of New Vegas.

Ever since the announcement of the second season of Fallout which promises a return to New Vegas, fans have been speculating about which ending will be adopted. The culmination of Fallout: New Vegas left players with varying narratives, highlighting the pivotal question: who emerged victorious during the Second Battle of Hoover Dam?

Will it be the New California Republic that secures control? Could it be Caesar’s Legion that converts the city into a new Rome? Or will Mr. House manipulate events to maintain autocratic authority? The ultimate outcome might even reflect the players’ own choices with the Independent, often dubbed the Yes Man ending.

In a recent discussion, Jonathan Nolan, executive producer of the series, revealed that they intentionally chose to avoid a definitive canon ending. “We had the delicious idea that at the conclusion of a conflict, 15 years later, every faction might believe they have triumphed, which certainly carries a poetic essence,” Nolan shared. The team aims to respect the diverse experiences gamers have with the series, steering clear of designating a single narrative as the canonical one.

To sum up, in this new season, all factions will weave their own tales of victory or defeat, leaving fans curious about how the narrative unfolds.
