
Publisher Snail Games USA has officially announced that Bellwright, a medieval open world survival RPG, is set to receive a major update on December 9. This upcoming update will introduce a new expansive map, fresh story quests, revamped progression systems, and various quality-of-life enhancements.
Currently in Steam Early Access since April 2024, Bellwright has accumulated a considerable player base, with plans for significant development leading to its full release.
Major ‘Maiden Voyage’ Update Coming on December 9
On the release date, players can expect a plethora of new features including:
- New Halmare Isles map, approximately 25% larger than the base game map.
- New story quests featuring multiple progression paths.
- New armor and equipment.
- New wildlife enhancing the immersive experience.
- New structures and building options.
- New loyalty and faction mechanics.
- A Trade and Caravans feature encouraging player interaction.
- Full controller support.
- Improvements to the Wall Fortification system.
- A comprehensive overhaul of the Character Creator.
- Introduction of new weapon types and cloaks.
- Integration of blocking markers during building.
The introduction of the Halmare Isles map is particularly noteworthy, offering expansive areas to explore, quests to undertake, and a new loyalty and faction system to engage with. This update aims to enhance gameplay, driven by valuable feedback from the community.
In a press release, Florian Hoffreither, Creative Director at Snail Games USA, stated:
“Since entering Early Access last year, Bellwright has garnered over a million wishlists, thanks to our ongoing updates and communication with players. The ‘Maiden Voyage’ is pivotal in that it incorporates player feedback comprehensively, offering a fresh continent to explore while reinforcing gameplay fundamentals.”
While the exact timeline for Bellwright’s full release remains unclear, early estimates suggest that it could be ready by April 2027, depending on development progress. The game is currently available for purchase on Steam at a discounted price of $19.79, down from its usual $23.99.
