As excitement builds for new characters and bosses in Elden Ring Nightreign’s DLC, I find myself thrilled over the latest quality-of-life enhancement detailed in the patch notes.
While melee characters such as Wylder and Raider enjoy significant buffs to their related passive effects, the biggest personal upgrade for me is the newfound ability to rename relic presets.
Previously, players could save a relic setup, which proved essential for different boss fights. For example, I’ve configured Ironeye with a relic that applies poison damage against bosses weak to that element. However, not all bosses are susceptible to poison, hence the need for multiple presets.
The former system forced players to navigate preset names arranged only by save date, causing unnecessary confusion. The recent patch rectifies this, allowing for easy identification with names like “fire” and “frost.” This improvement makes Nightreign significantly more user-friendly.
The relic system had received mixed reviews; many players disliked how challenging it was to roll effective relics. In my view, while the random generation adds interest, the difficulty in using and sorting them was cumbersome until recent adjustments by FromSoftware, which have now made it much more manageable.
With the current patch, relics reportedly roll better stats more frequently, though not dramatically so. More substantial changes may arise from buffs to weaker passives, enhancing the overall usability of lower-quality relics.
As anticipation grows for the new Forsaken Hollows map, which could unveil an array of new weapons and items, players will soon discover the extent of these updates when Nightreign’s DLC releases.
