Skyblivion, the much-anticipated fan remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is currently in an excellent condition, described by project lead Rebelzize as being in its best state ever. However, the developers face significant challenges, resulting in the postponement of the project’s launch to 2026.
In a recent announcement, Rebelzize stated:
“Unfortunately, as we’re getting closer to the end of this year, it pains me to have to announce that our initial goal of releasing Skyblivion this year is no longer possible. Despite the game being in the best state it’s ever been, we still have some last challenges to overcome that are going to require a little bit more time.”
This decision comes after acquiring feedback from former team member Dee Keyes, who raised concerns about the previous 2025 launch attempts and the strain it placed on the development team. Acknowledging these issues, the current team seeks volunteers in specific roles to push the project forward, highlighting their commitment to delivering quality.
The team has completed the main world map and dungeons, and they aim to enhance gameplay by polishing quests and improving overall game mechanics. You can follow their progress on their interactive map.
