Dan Houser Likens AI to Mad Cow Disease, Critiques Corporate Advocates

In a recent interview, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser expressed skepticism towards AI technology, warning that it might eventually lead to self-destruction akin to mad cow disease.

Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar, recently made headlines during an interview on Virgin Radio UK, where he discussed his views on AI technology and its implications. He is distinctly not optimistic about AI’s future, suggesting that it might follow a destructive path similar to mad cow disease.

Houser stated, “I personally don’t think it will lead us to anything great because AI is ultimately going to consume itself. As it scours the internet for information, the resources it relies upon will increasingly be generated by AI models.” He compares the scenario to feeding cows with cattle, resulting in mad cow disease.

On Corporate Executives Promoting AI

He didn’t hold back when critiquing the corporate executives advocating for the technology, saying, “A certain group of people is directing humanity in a way that might not be beneficial, suggesting they may not be completely well-rounded individuals.” He emphasized the importance of genuine human creativity, which he believes some industry leaders fail to recognize.

Overall, his comments sharpen the ongoing debate surrounding AI and its place in the creative and labor-intensive industries, hinting that while AI may handle certain tasks, it will never replicate the full spectrum of human creativity.
