Awoken from a long hibernation, players discover an abandoned pond and must restore it through genetic manipulation of frogs. This quirky game, titled Mudborne, set to be released in March, encourages players to tackle challenges and solve puzzles across various frog generations while engaging in a bit of mad science.
“Through a combination of crafting minigames, menu management and puzzle solving, experiment with genetics to breed new frogs and recover what was lost,” explains the developer, TNgineers.
The game features an intriguing cross-world adventure where players can discover and breed unique frogs, ultimately unlocking paths that connect dreaming and waking realities. Although sharing thematic elements with Bloodborne, it aims for a more whimsical rather than horrifying experience.
Mudborne also has a free demo available on Steam and Itch.io, allowing players to explore eight unique frog species and enjoy the light-hearted journey of frog breeding. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to amphibian and environmental charities.
