Streets of Rage 4 developer Lizardcube will be releasing Shinobi: Art of Vengeance in August, reviving a series known for its challenging gameplay and numerous controller casualties.
Wanna play an action platformer about a badass ninja named Joe Musashi? Streets of Rage 4 developer Lizardcube is reviving the much-loved and much-hated Shinobi series this year, as announced by Sega at Sony’s recent State of Play. The return of the famous ninja action series will happen on August 29.
Gameplay Features:
- Speed and Precision: Players will use swords, daggers, magical ninja arts, and strategies to defeat enemies efficiently.
- Limitless Combos: Unlock magical amulets and use ninja tools to discover new paths.
“Each weapon a tool, each tool a part of the whole. This is the mastery of a Shinobi,” says the trailer voiceover.
Art Style: The game promises a visually striking hand-drawn look, with carefully defined effects that evoke traditional animation.
Storyline Expectations: Players can expect an over-the-top narrative, featuring environments reminiscent of feudal Japan alongside cyberpunk cities filled with bioengineered monsters.
Availability: Players can find Shinobi: Art of Vengeance on Steam or through the official Sega website.
This release adds to Sega’s efforts to breathe new life into their classic franchises, harking back to a time when the Shinobi series had 11 installments between 1987 and 2003, with the last major title being a 3DS release in 2011.
