With 2024 now behind us, Epic Games Store has shared its annual look back at the year that was. Overall, it’s been a strong year for Epic with notable increases in both the number of games and users on its platform.
In 2024, the Epic Games Store amassed 295 million users, a significant rise of 25 million from the previous year. Additionally, the total number of games available on the store reached over 4,000, thanks to the addition of 1,100 new titles.
Although Epic’s growth is impressive, it still trails behind Steam, which saw nearly 19,000 new games added in 2024. The surge in Epic’s offerings was attributed to the adoption of self-publishing tools and various promotional programs.
The company’s giveaway initiative remained robust, with 595 million free games claimed, increasing from 586 million in the previous year—averaging approximately $2,229 in total value per player. Epic has affirmed that this program will continue through 2025 on both PC and mobile.
Looking ahead, Epic aims to improve its store launcher with new features expected, including better user control over downloads and enhanced social features across all platforms. Overall, it appears that the growth trajectory for the Epic Games Store is heading in a positive direction as they gear up for the coming year.
