Thunderobot introduces a gaming PC with a 16-core CPU derived from AMD's architecture, exclusively launching in China
New Gaming PC Launches with Innovative Chinese 16-Core Processor
Chinese PC gaming specialist Thunderobot has just unveiled a new gaming desktop featuring a unique Hygon C86-4G CPU, which, although not produced by AMD or Intel, is based on AMD’s original architecture.
Thunderobot Gaming PC
This desktop, dubbed the Black Warrior Hunter Pro, is marketed as China’s first domestically produced gaming PC. The full specifications remain undisclosed, but it is expected to be coupled with a large Nvidia RTX graphics card.
The intricacies of this development stem from a licensing agreement established between AMD and Hygon back in 2016. This complex arrangement permits Hygon to produce and sell chips derived from AMD’s technology.
Performance Expectations
Despite being based on older technology, the Hygon C86-4G CPU claims a moderate base clock speed of 2.8 GHz and has reportedly achieved a single-core score of 1,072 in Geekbench 6 tests, which might be less than stellar but interesting for certain tasks like video encoding due to its multi-threading capabilities.
Current details on pricing or availability outside of China have yet to be confirmed. Given Thunderobot’s existing presence in the US market with gaming laptops, it remains uncertain if this new desktop will reach international shores in the near future.
