Critical Security Flaws Found in Asus Software Affecting Millions

Asus is urging immediate updates for their MyAsus app and router firmware due to significant security vulnerabilities that could put millions at risk.

Asus has recently rolled out two vital security updates: one for the MyAsus app and another for its routers. The company emphasizes the urgency of downloading these patches promptly due to serious vulnerabilities identified.

The update for the MyAsus app addresses a flaw rated at high severity that could allow unauthorized attackers elevated system privileges. Research has found multiple flaws in the router firmware, with two classified as high severity and one labeled as critical.

The implications of these vulnerabilities are significant because the MyAsus app is pre-installed on Asus systems, playing a crucial role in device maintenance and updates. Any security issues with this app could potentially compromise a wide user base. Given Asus’s prominence in the gaming router market, any firmware vulnerabilities raise considerable concern.

How to Secure Your Devices?

To receive the MyAsus update, ensure you have version 3.1.48.0 for x64 PCs or 4.2.48.0 for Arm systems. You can verify your version by launching MyAsus, accessing Settings, and checking the About section.

For routers, the latest firmware can be obtained from the Asus support page.

For older routers that have reached the end of their life and are no longer receiving updates, Asus recommends disabling all internet-accessible features to mitigate risks.
